About the role

The position is located at Pioneer Elementary and is a regular, one-year-only, 37.5 FTE position. It is scheduled for 180 work days per year.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to teachers and special service providers; assist in instruction, medical and health needs of special education students (preschool-age)
  • Supervise outdoor play in varying weather conditions (IAW CDHS licensing regulations)
  • Document student learning and growth (e.g., IEP goal progress monitoring, TS GOLD, etc.)
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student needs and abilities
  • Assist with materials preparation and implementation of interventions and strategies under the direction of the preschool teacher and/or special education team
  • Administer and document prescription medication to students and perform medical procedures, as delegated
  • Communicate and interact appropriately with students, families, and school personnel
  • Provide assistance to students in non-classroom settings (e.g., bathroom, playground, bus transference, etc.) which may involve lifting children and/or equipment

Requirements

  • Certifications: CPR - American Heart Association, First Aid - American Heart Association
  • Education: High School or Equivalent
  • Essential Physical Requirements: Occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds, frequent bending, standing, sitting, and walking, frequent use of hands, keyboarding, and writing, vision, auditory, and mental acuity within normal ranges

  • Effective operation and appropriate use of personal computers, software applications, general office equipment and telephone systems
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions
  • Ability to meet attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Strong detail orientation, time management and organizational skills
  • Willingness and commitment to observe and model all District policies and procedures
