Educational Assistant (EA IV) - Student Specific (1:1 Support)

Responsible for implementing all aspects of one student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), and Health Care Plan (HCP). Requires a high degree of flexibility, consistency, and professional judgment to ensure the student's safety, access to instruction, and full participation across the school day and various learning environments. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Responsibilities

• Collect and accurately record all required data on academic, behavioral, social, and functional goals, reporting progress to the Special Education Teacher daily/weekly.
• Maintain a line of sight/close proximity with the student at all times to ensure immediate response to any safety or health needs.
• Provide personal care assistance, which may include feeding, toileting, hygiene, dressing, and positioning, in a dignified and professional manner.
• Implement the student's Health Care Plan (HCP), which may involve delegated nursing tasks such as medication administration, seizure protocol implementation, or monitoring of medical equipment, following all required training.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Implement all academic accommodations and modifications as written in the student's current IEP.
• Provide direct 1:1 support to the student in the general education classroom, special education setting, and all non-instructional environments (e.g., lunch, recess, assemblies, field trips).
• Execute the student's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) and crisis management strategies consistently across all settings, including instruction, transitions, and unstructured time.
• Facilitate peer interaction and social skills development by modeling appropriate social behaviors and supporting the student's successful participation in group activities.
• Physically assist the student with transitions between classes, activities, and locations within the school building and community.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for implementing IEPs, health plans, and behavior protocols with high fidelity.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and respond to complex and challenging student behaviors.
• Willingness and ability to assist students with personal care, toileting, and mobility, including lifting and transferring (with appropriate training and assistance).
• Occasional lifting of forty (40) to seventy (70) pounds.
• Frequent sitting, occasional bending, squatting, or standing.

Environmental & Physical Demands

• Work is generally performed in a typical education classroom environment with standard desk, equipment for students, fluorescent lighting, and moderate noise level.
• Essential environmental demands include typical classroom noise and mostly clean and comfortable conditions.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $19.84 USD – $30.55 USD (full-time). Part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE. Minimum hire rate: $19.84 USD. Maximum hire rate: $25.20 USD.

Schedule

• Regular, one-year position (not year-round).
• 37.5 scheduled hours per week (0.94 FTE).
• Approximately 180 work days per year.
