Education Tutor – One-on-One

About the role

As a Full-Time Education Tutor at the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, you will play a vital role in supporting American Indian students from grades K through 12 under the guidance of the Education Advisor and the Education Manager. This position allows you to deliver personalized tutorial assistance, fostering academic growth and development in a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students in Grades K-12 during the After-School Program; school subjects with an emphasis in Mathematics, English and Reading.
• Tutors will work with the Tribal Education Advisors, Student Family Advisors, and Truancy Officer on referrals for one-on-one tutoring.
• Submit weekly reports to the Education Advisor; participate in monthly Education Staff Meetings.
• Will participate in other educational related activities
• Provide one-on-one tutoring for students with chronic absenteeism, academic failure, behavioral issues and truancy.

Requirements

• A high school diploma, associate’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with Indian students, staff, teachers and parents.
• Strong academic skills in Math, English, History and Reading.

Skills

• Excellent communication skills.
• Familiarity with educational software or tools that aid in tracking student progress and submitting weekly reports.
