Requirements

• EDUCATION LEVEL: Two years of post high school education or higher, or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota, for designated Education Assistant positions.
• Experience Desired: At least one year of work experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills and knowledge of strategies to support students with social, emotional, and behavior needs.
• Physical Requirements: Requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, hearing, frequent bending over, crouching, reaching, removing, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, threading, turning and walking. Frequent carrying, grasping, holding, lifting, opening, pulling, unfolding and unlocking are also required. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Other Requirements: Experience with behavior management.

Essential Functions & Duties

• Aids teacher in identifying student needs.
• Provides tutorial assistance for students in all classes.
• Prepares instruction and supplementary materials.
• Keeps records.
• Checks papers, workbooks, homework and tests.
• Aids students with makeup work.
• Maintains student confidentiality.
• Aids teachers in supervising students in the classroom.
• May be requested by administration to transport students using personal vehicle.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

PAY INFORMATION

• Starting at $18.42 per hour.
• Pay Day: Last working day of each month, based on the payroll cutoff schedule.

HOURS & FTE

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch.
• 0.875 FTE, 35 hours per week, 9 months.
