Schedule

Approximately 14 hours per week at the following locations:

  • 280 Ralph Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11233 – Monday 10am-12pm and Thursday 1pm-3pm
  • 150 Malcolm X Blvd, Brooklyn, NY 11221 – Monday 2-4pm and Thursday 10am-12pm
  • 862 Park Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11206 – Tuesday and Thursday 10:30-11:30am
  • 930 Halsey St, Brooklyn, NY 11233 – Tuesday and Friday 1pm-3pm

Responsibilities

  • Develop lesson plans and activities for class.
  • Create an atmosphere where all participants are engaged, have fun, are safe, and work collectively as a team.
  • Mentor and support new and first-time technology users.
  • Regularly communicate with Program Director regarding participants and class topics.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation including but not limited to sign-in/sign-out sheets and attendance reports.
  • Maintain an organized workspace by taking responsibility for supplies, materials, equipment, and program spaces.

  • Understanding of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g., people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice-involved persons, etc.).

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in Technology preferred.
  • Minimum of one-year experience teaching computer classes with knowledge of and experience in teaching Word, Excel, computer basics, digital platforms, and Photoshop.
  • Previous experience working with the older adult community preferred.
