About the role

This internship requires approximately 12 hours per week over a four-month period, structured around the Education team's production timelines and event needs. Interns are required to work onsite one day per week. Work may be distributed across 1–3 days per week, Monday–Thursday, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. ET, with occasional evening and weekend hours to support events. The position pays $17/hour and includes a $30/month transportation stipend.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the planning and production of virtual and in-person Education programs, including workshops, showcases, teacher professional development sessions, and school assemblies
  • Serving as an assistant in supporting projects to organize program data, track outcomes, and improve team workflows
  • Aiding in curriculum updates, resource development, conference and partner research, instructor meet-ups, and workshop observations
  • Assisting with communications projects, including responding to participant inquiries and organizing program materials
  • Assisting with post-event projects such as basic video editing, photo curation, and preparing promotional assets
  • Participating in the development of recruitment materials and outreach strategies for Moth Story Lab, with a focus on engaging young adult participants
  • Taking on additional short-term projects that align with Education team priorities and your interests

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate or recent graduate, in communications, education, journalism, marketing, nonprofit management, theater, media, or a related field
  • Relevant coursework, campus involvement, volunteer experience, personal projects, or prior internship experience related to communications, education, media, nonprofit work, or a similar field
  • An interest in The Moth’s mission and in storytelling as a form of community engagement
  • An interest in or willingness to learn basic video editing
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort with data entry and organizing information
  • Experience with data entry and organization
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Google Workspace; willingness to learn tools such as Airtable and CRM platforms
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills, with organizational abilities
  • Curiosity about social media trends and digital storytelling
  • Creative, proactive, and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs and stand for extended periods as needed during events
