Education Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD
$120,000/year W2 salary, paid weekly, with medical, dental, and vision benefits from day one. On-site role at an Alpha campus located in Malibu, CA; San Francisco, CA; Santa Barbara, CA; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; or Miami Beach, FL (relocation assistance available).
About the role
Traditional schools set the bar. You'll train students to surpass it. Every child holds untapped potential. Most educators ease up when faced with difficulty. Your approach is different. You recognize that genuine confidence stems not from empty praise, but from guiding someone to achieve what they believed was beyond reach. If you've ever pushed a student, athlete, camper, or mentee to persist when they wanted to give up, you'll find purpose in this work.
Alpha has reimagined education with one core principle: AI excels at academic delivery, while exceptional people excel at transformation. Students progress through foundational academics via adaptive, AI-driven learning platforms. Your responsibility is cultivating what technology cannot—discipline, grit, communication, accountability, concentration, and the conviction that hard things matter. You won't be lecturing or grading assignments. Instead, you'll coach students through obstacles, acknowledge meaningful progress, and guide them toward goals they once deemed unattainable.
Approximately 60% of your time involves facilitating dynamic, one-hour workshops on life skills topics such as public speaking, concentration, leadership, and constructive feedback. About 30% is dedicated to individual and small-group coaching, using Coachbot analytics to pinpoint which students need encouragement, accountability, or a strategic shift. The final 10% is spent analyzing data, refining your methods, and positioning students for continued growth. You'll begin with established workshop models, then iterate and enhance them as you uncover more effective motivational techniques.
Performance is measurable. A minimum of 90% of your students should regularly achieve their weekly academic targets, demonstrate competency in Alpha's life skills via Test2Pass evaluations, and rate their experience with you at 4 out of 5 or higher. Consistently meet this benchmark and you'll advance to Lead Guide, mentoring fellow Guides, and potentially Campus Lead, where you'll influence the ethos and outcomes of an entire school.
This position isn't suited for those seeking to lecture, adhere strictly to curriculum, or occupy students with busywork. It's designed for coaches, mentors, youth facilitators, performers, tutors, and educators who define success by student transformation. Every finalist participates in a full-day session coaching actual Alpha students before an offer is extended.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating energetic, one-hour life skills sessions for K-8 students, cultivating communication, resilience, concentration, leadership, and other foundational skills while refining the workshop format.
- Providing one-on-one and small-group coaching informed by Coachbot analytics, tailored accountability strategies, and Alpha's motivational frameworks to support every student in reaching challenging weekly objectives.
- Evaluating life skill proficiency via Test2Pass and delivering focused coaching until each student exhibits true competence, not mere attendance.
- Adjusting your coaching approach for elementary and middle school age ranges, understanding when a kindergartner requires movement and positive reinforcement versus when an eighth grader needs direct accountability.
- Reviewing weekly performance metrics to detect trends, eliminate barriers, and systematically enhance results across your student cohort.
- Develop a cohort of students who reliably meet ambitious academic objectives, acquire critical life skills, and cultivate the confidence, perseverance, and self-ownership necessary for success beyond Alpha.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Conducting traditional classroom lessons. AI manages academic instruction, freeing you to concentrate on student development.
- Grading assignments, designing lesson plans, or preparing students for standardized exams.
- Supervising students while they work quietly on devices. Each day is dynamic, engaging, and coaching-focused.
- Seeking permission before supporting a student in need. You possess the authority to intervene swiftly and effectively.
- Handling parent correspondence or administrative documentation. Campus Leads manage family communication, allowing you to prioritize students.

Nice-to-have
- Background in coaching youth sports, debate, theater, summer camps, after-school initiatives, or other performance-oriented activities.
