Education Aide

Job Summary

The Education Aide provides direct support to students within an educational setting, assisting teachers in creating a structured and positive classroom environment that fosters individualized academic and behavioral growth. This role collaborates with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to implement treatment plans, behavior strategies, and instructional supports.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and small-group academic and behavioral support to students
• Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans, classroom expectations, and structured teaching strategies
• Support classroom management and act as substitute teacher when needed
• Complete required documentation, including strategy sheets, assessments, incident reports, and progress trackers
• Contribute to student records such as IEPs, Functional Behavior Assessments, and Behavior Plans
• Communicate weekly with parents/guardians regarding student progress
• Collaborate with teachers, agency staff, and external professionals to ensure student needs are met
• Represent the agency professionally in all interactions and participate in meetings and committees
• Provide crisis intervention, including de-escalation, seclusion, and restraints
• Implement individualized treatment plans and motivation systems
• Promote safe, age-appropriate environments and model positive social and coping skills
• Attend required training (crisis intervention, CPR, First Aid) and maintain TFM certification
• Participate in professional seminars and accept feedback for growth
• Ensure compliance with agency standards and quality assurance measures

Compensation & Benefits

Associate's degree $18/hr and goes up depending on experience
Bachelor's degree starts at $19.50/hr and goes up depending on experience
Master's degree starts at $21/hr and goes up depending on experience

Work Environment

Exposed to a combination of office, school, and mental health treatment environments. Exposed to children with behavior problems. May be exposed to shouting and clients who may be verbally and physically aggressive. May be exposed to blood or vomit and bodily fluids.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of sustained exertion and be able to participate in the physical restraint techniques and exercises required to ensure safety of clients at all times.
