About You

You should apply to our Editorial Internship program if you:

  • Are currently studying for a degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
  • Have experience writing in AP Style, ideally for a student publication or media company
  • Have reliable transportation

About the Program

Interns will finish the 10-12 week program with a well-rounded newsroom experience that includes writing web stories, shadowing reporters at local government meetings, contributing stories to the print product, and writing for our highly-read Impacts and To-do List sections of the paper.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be enrolled in college and working toward their degree, or may have graduated within six months of the internship start date
  • Experience working for a collegiate student publication or media outlet is required

Compensation

Interns are full-time for 10-12 weeks and will be paid an hourly rate of $15.

Schedule

Our standard work week is Monday through Friday, but some evening shifts may be required to cover council meetings.

Requirements

  • Ability to work outside of regular office hours to attend community meetings
  • Ability to be out in the communities we serve, taking photos and connecting with sources
