Editor (Sports)

About the Role

We are seeking a Sports Editor to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, FL or New York, NY. This is a 6-month contract position with potential for extension or conversion based on performance. Standard hours are 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, with a pay range of $34/hr. - $38/hr.

Responsibilities

• Monitor live sporting events and identify breaking news, important developments, and compelling storylines relevant to sports audiences.
• Work within the alerts and content programming team to balance editorial judgment, promotional priorities, and data-driven audience insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 2-3 years of experience in sports journalism, sports content creation, digital media, or marketing.
• Strong and broad knowledge of sports, particularly football, combat sports, and soccer.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience writing and editing according to AP Style.
• Experience working with Content Management Systems (CMS).
• Experience creating mobile alerts, push notifications, or other audience-engagement content.
• Familiarity with AI tools used to improve editorial or workflow efficiency.
