Job Description

The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) is seeking an inaugural Editor-in-Chief (EIC) to lead Genetics in Medicine Translational Genomics (GIM TG), a new open access journal launching in 2027. GIM TG is dedicated to translating genomic discoveries into clinical practice and therapeutics, and will serve as a global forum at the interface of genomics and medicine.

Qualifications

  • Strong scholarly record in translational genomics or a related field
  • Peer-reviewed publishing experience, as an author and/or editor
  • Collaborative leadership style with the ability to build and lead an international team of editors
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate and execute a strategic vision for journal growth and development
  • Commitment to scientific integrity, rigor, and inclusivity in publishing

Additional Information

  • Appointment Terms: This is a three-year, renewable term appointment. The Editor-in-Chief serves ex officio on the ACMG Board. The appointment will be finalized by early fall 2026, with manuscript intake beginning October 2026. Compensation and time commitment will be defined in a formal agreement.

Physical Requirements

This is a largely sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.
