About the role

We are seeking an editorial team member committed to creating new, culturally informed curriculum materials that engage today’s students studying Career and Technical Education (CTE). The Editor will use their educational background and curriculum knowledge, combined with on-the-job training in editorial processes and project management, to aid the development of innovative instructional materials for grades 6-12. The Editor executes assignments to meet project quality standards and requires strong organization, time-management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes ideas during project planning.
  • Works with managers to learn job parameters.
  • Matches state standards and certification objectives to relevant content in the CTE program.
  • Applies knowledge of state objectives and certification testing blueprints to content and vendor evaluations.
  • Learns and follows established procedures and company policies.
  • Seeks guidance or clarification from supervisors when objectives or directions are unclear.
  • Ensures completed assignments match project specifications.
  • Demonstrates growth over time in response to supervisor direction and coaching.
  • Meets deadlines for all assignments.
  • Maintains positive communication with supervisors regarding feedback on assignments and job performance.
  • Refers budget or schedule decisions to supervisors for advice and action.
  • Provides accurate status updates on all assignments.

Requirements

  • Work experience or internships in education, publishing, or digital curriculum.
  • Experience working on CTE materials preferred.
  • Experience creating materials for middle and high school students.
  • Graduate or undergraduate degree with majors or minors in education, curriculum, history, economics, English, science, or related fields.

Skills

  • Familiarity with today’s youth, popular culture, and what motivates students to learn.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Content Management Systems, Learning Management Systems, digital technology programs, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google equivalents.
  • Knowledge of differentiation strategies, scaffolding for multilingual learners (MLL), and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • General familiarity with editing, grammar, and following a style guide (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style).
  • Ability to set relevant priorities and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks on time with required quality.
  • Ability to utilize constructive feedback to refine skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and adapt to changing environments.
  • Ability to balance attention to detail with a broader understanding of project objectives.
  • Self-confidence to actively participate in meetings and open forums.

Pay

Hiring range: $64,000 - $80,000. This role may also be eligible for bonus or incentive compensation. Compensation is determined by skills, experience, budget, and internal equity.
