Responsibilities
- Concept and write engaging nonfiction articles for first graders
- Ensure the quality and timely delivery of print and digital assets
- Apply grade-level pedagogy strategically to content creation
- Collaborate with the Education Editor on educational alignment
- Review photos, illustrations, and layouts with design team
- Work with Editorial Director to align magazine content with business goals
- Incorporate feedback from teacher advisory board and subscribers
- Manage junior staff with ongoing feedback and performance reviews
Qualifications
- Proven ability to write engaging content for young children
- Understanding of first-grade classroom practices and pedagogy
- Experience managing print and digital assets independently
- Ability to create educational resources like lesson plans and activity pages
- Strong research skills for article development and expert interviews
- Good visual sense for image selection and collaboration with design
- Effective communication skills with educator customers
