Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service, with excellent chair-side manner, while demonstrating teamwork.
- Aid the doctor and/or hygienist(s) with dental procedures.
- Maintain excellent patient service, integrity, and workflow.
- Review patient charts prior to doctor arrival, document appropriate patient information and health history during the exam and treatment, ensure all patient consents are completed prior to treatment.
- Perform four-handed dentistry, including fabricating temporary crowns, placing rubber dams, placing amalgam and composite restorations, assisting with seating permanent/removable prosthetics, coronal polishing, and sealant placement.
- Take, develop, and mount accurate, high-quality radiographs and intra-oral photos.
- Clean, sterilize, and prepare the equipment and operatory, prior to and after a patient’s appointment.
- Track incoming and outgoing lab cases, monitor and order dental supplies.
- Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance, follow safety policies and procedures through OSHA compliance and BBP (Blood-borne Pathogens).
- Multi-task and remain calm in a rapidly changing environment.
- Assist in educating patients and addressing their questions and/or concerns to help them feel more comfortable.
- Assist the business administrative team in scheduling patients and submitting referrals as clinically necessary.
- Show computer proficiency and the ability to learn new programs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current radiography certification required.
- Active Dental Assistant/CDA/EFDA/EDDA/QDA license, as required by state.
- Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR-BLS) preferred.
- Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Analgesia, as required by state, or ability to become certified.
