EDDA - Dental Assistant

About the role

As an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) at Sonrava, patient care is your top priority. You will play a major role in delivering extraordinary dental care by valuing and improving the patient experience. Dental Assistants are critical to our mission, supporting both the patient and the doctor during procedures. You will ensure the patient’s excellent experience while in the chair and contribute to overall patient retention. We seek talented individuals who provide excellent customer service, precise support to the doctor, and maintain an amiable chair-side manner in a dynamic, state-of-the-art practice environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service with an excellent chair-side manner, making the patient the top priority.
• Be present, engaged, and ready to work at all assigned shift times.
• Take direction from the doctor and/or hygienist(s), assist with all dental procedures, and anticipate their needs.
• Take, develop, and mount accurate, high-quality radiographs.
• Review patient charts prior to the doctor’s arrival, log patient data and health history, and transcribe the doctor’s notes.
• Clean, sterilize, and prepare equipment and operatory per organizational procedures before patient appointments.
• Perform efficient and accurate procedures to maintain schedule and patient flow.
• Educate patients and address their questions or concerns.
• Demonstrate teamwork to deliver an extraordinary experience for every patient.
• Partner with doctors, hygienists, Operations Leaders, and support staff to maintain excellent patient service and organizational integrity.
• Assist front office staff in scheduling follow-up visits and tracking lab cases to ensure quality and timely products.
• Monitor dental supply levels and order using the approved formulary when assigned by the Operations Leader.
• Promote and market Sonrava-supported practice services and retail products.
• Complete checklists as assigned and participate in daily huddles to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance.
• Follow safety policies and procedures, including OSHA compliance and Blood-borne Pathogens (BBP) federal regulations.
• Complete all Learning Management System requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Current radiography certification required.
• Dental Assistant certification, as required by state, or ability to become certified.
• Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) preferred.
• Current certification to monitor Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Analgesia preferred.
• Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, and Infection Control training.

Work Environment

• Overtime required as approved by Operations Leader.
• Travel as needed for training and job functions.
• Safety procedures and personal protective equipment required to minimize risks from radiographs and blood-borne pathogens.
• Potential for prolonged sitting and standing.
