ED Trauma Coordinator-Registered Nurse

About the role

The Emergency Department at MercyOne Dubuque is seeking a Trauma Coordinator to join our dedicated team. This position plays a crucial role in managing trauma cases and coordinating care.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
• Ensures compliance with Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program
• Communicates effectively with patients and families, demonstrating a polite, compassionate, and caring attitude
• Develops multidisciplinary trauma educational programs
• Coordinates and acts as a resource in injury prevention activities
• Audits EMS charts to identify trends and address quality issues
• Manages EMS supplies, linens, and food
• Coordinates the Dubuque County Drug Box Exchange Program
• Provides education to ED staff on new or changing EMS practices
• Assists with fit testing and decontamination (decon) practices
• Coordinates pediatric performance improvement activities
• Assists with scheduling and payroll
• Participates in pediatric injury prevention programs
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Current RN license in Iowa or a compact license recognized by the state
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
• TNCC Instructor certification (or obtain within 1 year of hire)
• Nursing certification (or obtain within 1 year of hire)
• Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter)
• Minimum of 2 years of trauma/critical care nursing experience
• EMS experience desired
