Job summary

Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary.

Education and work experience

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
  • Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Licenses and certifications

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred
  • Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required (facility specific)
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A: Required (department specific)

Essential functions

  • Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments
  • Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations
  • Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position
  • Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment
  • Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care
  • Observes, documents and reports patient condition and changes in condition to the RN, MD/Provider
  • Provides patient and family education within scope of practice
  • Records and collects specimens
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Pay

The estimated base pay for this position is $25.00 to $29.56. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.

Schedule

Per Diem assignment category, 12-hour shifts in the Emergency Department.
