About the role

The Emergency Department at Department 36102 Aurora St. Lukes South Shore is seeking a team member to assist physicians and registered nurses in providing technical care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Performs phlebotomy, transports patients, places patients on cardiac and vital sign monitors, performs wound care, inserts Foley catheters, and obtains lab specimens.
  • Documents information and promptly communicates patient observations, concerns, and needs to the registered nurse.
  • Processes daily patient charges and related procedures through the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Collaborates with physicians to support communications required for patient care.
  • Coordinates and facilitates communications via phone, verbal, paging, electronic, fax, and EMS system.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment, following department safety policies and standard precautions.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots equipment, arranges repairs for major malfunctions.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling while using proper technique.

Requirements

  • Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications: Nurse Aide in good standing, EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, EMT-Paramedic, or Medical Assistant with BLS certification.
  • Education: High School Graduate.
  • Experience: Typically 1 year of experience.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills and ability to work with EHR.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with physicians, staff, patients, and families.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • High level of attention to detail.

Skills

  • Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret necessary information for patient care.

Pay

$21.85 - $32.80 per hour.

Schedule

0.8 FTE - 11-23 on Monday and Tuesday, 11-19 on Wednesday, Holiday rotation required.
