About the role
The Emergency Department at Department 36102 Aurora St. Lukes South Shore is seeking a team member to assist physicians and registered nurses in providing technical care to patients.
Responsibilities
- Performs phlebotomy, transports patients, places patients on cardiac and vital sign monitors, performs wound care, inserts Foley catheters, and obtains lab specimens.
- Documents information and promptly communicates patient observations, concerns, and needs to the registered nurse.
- Processes daily patient charges and related procedures through the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Collaborates with physicians to support communications required for patient care.
- Coordinates and facilitates communications via phone, verbal, paging, electronic, fax, and EMS system.
- Maintains a clean and safe working environment, following department safety policies and standard precautions.
- Maintains and troubleshoots equipment, arranges repairs for major malfunctions.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling while using proper technique.
Requirements
- Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications: Nurse Aide in good standing, EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, EMT-Paramedic, or Medical Assistant with BLS certification.
- Education: High School Graduate.
- Experience: Typically 1 year of experience.

- Basic computer skills and ability to work with EHR.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with physicians, staff, patients, and families.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.
- High level of attention to detail.
Skills
- Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Ability to assess data reflective of patient status and interpret necessary information for patient care.

Pay
$21.85 - $32.80 per hour.
Schedule
0.8 FTE - 11-23 on Monday and Tuesday, 11-19 on Wednesday, Holiday rotation required.
