About the Role
Specialty Technicians perform a variety of routine and advanced patient care tasks under the direction of nursing staff to assist medical and nursing personnel in the examination, treatment, and care of patients of various ages and acuities. Additionally, Specialty Technicians perform clerical and technical tasks as assigned, including unit cleaning and organization, answering phones, directing patients and visitors, paging or calling professionals to assist in patient care, or addressing other departmental needs.
Specialty Technicians have a professional obligation to participate in committee activities, surveys, improvement initiatives, and continuing education.
- Emergency Department (ED) and Surgical Services Specialty Technicians provide care for patients of all ages and acuity levels who suffer from a variety of illnesses and/or injuries.
- Telemetry Specialty Technicians provide care for adult and geriatric patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- No previous experience required
- Completion of a hospital-based training program
- CPR-BLS certification prior to orientation completion
