ED Flow Coordinator
About the role
Assists with proper patient placement and facilitates patient movement throughout the Emergency Department.
Monitors staff efficiency, patterns, and time management related to patient treatment and movement.
Reduces patients' overall wait times through the Emergency Department.
Maintains continuous communication with the Triage RN to ensure appropriate placement of patients per ESI.
Maintains open communication with the entire team.
Ensures the department is properly equipped at all times.
Collects various metrics and reports them to leadership.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Maintains continuous communication with the Triage RN to ensure appropriate placement of patients per ESI.
- Monitors standard treatment and benchmark criteria set by facility leadership to reduce occurrences of defined outlier or negative QA evaluations.
- Maintains open communication with the entire team.
- Communicates continuously with the Emergency Department Assistant Nurse Manager on changes, influxes of patients, and opportunities identified in the flow process.
- Maintains continuous communication with the Triage RN to ensure appropriate placement of patients per ESI.
- Monitors wait times for test results and contacts physicians and departments as needed.
- Maintains continuous communication with the Emergency Department Assistant Nurse Manager on changes, influxes of patients, and opportunities identified in the flow process.
- Provides recommendations to leadership based on findings through data collection or experience to enhance current processes.
- Maintains continuous communication with the Emergency Department Assistant Nurse Manager on changes, influxes of patients, and opportunities identified in the flow process.
Requirements
- Associate's of Nursing [Required]
- Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
- Knowledge of ESI Training [Preferred]
- 3+ years experience [Required]
