About the role

To assist with a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment, and provide direct instructional support to students per the request of the teacher and principal to ensure that students take full advantage of the effective instructional program and available resource materials provided by the school district.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment
• Provide direct instructional support to students as requested by the teacher and principal
• Operate audio-visual equipment and office machines
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and records
• Establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents/guardians, staff, and supervisors/administrators
• Write simple letters, memos, notes, or instructions
• Perform essential job functions and job task requirements

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of 48 college credits preferred
• Ability to obtain Level III Assistant licensure (appropriate college credits or pass test for licensure)
• Computer skills (data entry/word processing) preferable
• Experience working with students preferable
• Knowledge of spelling and proper grammar
• Ability to read and interpret routine information

Schedule

Nine months (185 days) per contract year. The work calendar is subject to change based on any Board-approved revisions.

Pay

Appropriate placement on the Educational Assistant Salary Schedule.

Conditions of Employment

• Compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986
• Upon an offer of employment, complete an Employee's Statement of Health and submit to a functional capacity evaluation at the District's expense to determine ability to perform job-related functions and fitness for duty
• Any offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of all background, criminal, and reference investigations
