Economics Writer
About the role
We're seeking an experienced Economics Writer to support a globally recognized labor market research and economics team. This role is ideal for a writer with a strong background in economics, data journalism, or policy research who excels at transforming complex economic analysis into engaging, accessible content for a broad audience.
Working closely with economists, data scientists, and researchers, you'll help produce high-quality editorial content that informs journalists, policymakers, business leaders, employers, job seekers, and academic audiences. You'll play a key role in ensuring research is accurate, compelling, and aligned with editorial standards while helping scale the team's growing portfolio of research and insights.
Responsibilities
- Write, rewrite, and refine economics and data-driven content for a wide range of audiences.
- Translate complex labor market research into clear, engaging, and accessible narratives without compromising analytical rigor.
- Edit reports, research briefs, white papers, and other publications for clarity, consistency, and readability.
- Partner with economists and data scientists to communicate research findings effectively.
- Help manage editorial workflows and support timely delivery of content across multiple stakeholders.
- Produce a variety of content, including:
- Labor market reports
- Survey-based research
- Data-driven articles
- Methodology papers
- Rapid-response economic commentary
- Long-form research publications
Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of professional experience in economics writing, economic research, business journalism, or data journalism.
- Experience working alongside economists, researchers, or analytical teams.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Strong understanding of economic concepts, labor market trends, and data-driven storytelling.
- Ability to maintain accuracy while making complex information engaging and approachable.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
