Indecon is seeking candidates with 1+ years’ experience in economics, social research, consultancy, or public policy. We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in quantitative analysis, econometrics, data analysis, Excel modelling, impact evaluation, cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness analyses, regulation, competition, and forecasting.

About the role

The successful candidates will work as Economic Consultants, collaborating with colleagues and clients to apply economic and policy analysis to real-world problems. The role involves projects across public and private sectors, both in Ireland and internationally, spanning areas such as policy evaluation, capital appraisal, impact assessment, labour market analysis, health economics, environmental economics, forecasting, regulatory economics, energy economics, and competition economics.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake economic and policy research and analysis using public and client-confidential data.
  • Perform econometric and statistical modelling, including complex Excel modelling.
  • Design and manage surveys, and analyze quantitative data using statistical techniques.
  • Provide economic and statistical advice to governments, commercial enterprises, and other clients.
  • Produce research reports and presentations based on economic analysis.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement processes.
  • Work as part of wider teams to deliver complex research projects.

Requirements

Candidates should hold a master’s or PhD in economics, public policy, social research, business, finance, or a related discipline from a leading Irish or international university, with an outstanding academic record.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of relevant experience in economics or research within the private, consulting, or public sectors.
  • Superb written and verbal English communication skills, with experience explaining complex economic concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and manage junior staff.
  • Experience engaging with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with data analysis and manipulation, ideally using STATA and/or R.
  • Ability to manage time across multiple project commitments.
  • Experience or training with AI tools is an asset.
