About the role

The eCommerce Development Manager will be a key player in our organization, responsible for leading and guiding a team of developers to deliver high-quality websites built in Magento or WooCommerce. Along with coding, this is a management role; the manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, provide technical guidance, and ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and facilitate professional growth within the team.
  • Oversee the end-to-end development process, including project planning, scope definition, resource allocation, timeline management, and successful product delivery.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the development team, ensuring best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles are followed.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure alignment between development and business goals.
  • Ensure the team delivers high-quality, bug-free websites through code reviews, testing strategies, and continuous improvement of development processes.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, and driving the adoption of new tools and techniques to enhance development efficiency.
  • Monitor the performance of development projects, identify bottlenecks, and implement strategies to optimize development processes and enhance productivity.
  • Facilitate resolution of technical challenges and roadblocks, encouraging the team to find creative and effective solutions.
  • Manage developer workload and resource allocation to ensure optimal productivity and project delivery within set timelines.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration between development teams, promoting knowledge sharing and leveraging expertise across the organization.

Requirements

  • Proven experience of at least 5 years at an agency, with solid eCommerce development, and an understanding of software engineering principles and practices.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Magento 2 development, including custom module development and theme customization.
  • Previous experience in a managerial or team lead role, demonstrating exceptional leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of ecommerce best practices, such as catalog management, order processing, and payment gateways integration.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and practices (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Experience with performance optimization, caching mechanisms, and website security in the context of ecommerce platforms.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, to facilitate effective collaboration with front-end developers.
