About the role

Performs cardiac ultrasound examinations according to physician's orders, utilizing a variety of complex ultrasound equipment. Objectively identifies the presence of or absence of disease utilizing a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Assists physicians with more invasive echocardiography examinations including, but not limited to, Transesophageal echocardiography, Trans-catheter echo guided procedures (location specific), pericardiocentesis, echo guided myocardial biopsies (location specific), contrast enhanced exams, exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiography.

Responsibilities

  • Performs cardiac ultrasound examinations according to physician’s orders, utilizing a variety of complex ultrasound equipment.
  • Objectively identifies the presence of or absence of disease utilizing a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Affords assistance to physicians during more invasive echocardiography examinations including, but not limited to, Transesophageal echocardiography, Trans-catheter echo guided procedures (location specific), pericardiocentesis, echo guided myocardial biopsies (location specific), contrast enhanced exams, exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiography.

Requirements

  • Oregon Sonographer
  • National Registered Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiovascular Credentialing International, OR
  • National Advanced Cardiac Sonographer - Cardiovascular Credentialing International, OR
  • National Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer from American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Applied Science, from a CAAHPE accredited school in Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technology, or Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • 1 year: Experience performing cardiovascular ultrasound examinations,
  • Minimum of 800 exams using all imaging modalities available.
  • Pediatric echocardiography experience.
  • Familiarity with imaging support of advanced heart failure patients (mechanical support devices).
  • Experience with echo guided trans-catheter procedures (St. Vincent Medical Center).
