ECEAP Early Education Teacher

About the Role

We are seeking a Teacher for our Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP) classroom, passionate and dedicated to providing children and their families with an excellent educational experience. This role works alongside the Lead Teacher in implementing engaging activities for groups of children while following program and state requirements. The position is full-time at our Redmond location, with shifts varying between 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Implement culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities with the curriculum in accordance with the Youth Development goals of the YMCA.
• Coordinate activities that fit children’s individual developmental needs, enhancing social, intellectual, and physical growth.
• Supervise a group of children to ensure their health, safety, and positive experiences.
• Complete individual child observations alongside the Lead Teacher for child assessments.
• Professionally communicate with and maintain positive relationships with families, including participating in conferences.
• Keep family communication sheets up to date, including daily records of activities, meals, and family information notes.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
• Provide assistance to the Lead Teacher and may fill in during temporary absences.
• Maintain the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, cleanliness, and learning environment of the classroom.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

Requirements

• 18 years of age or older.
• CDA (Child Development Associate) certification.
• Experience working with children the same age as those to be supervised.
• Completion of minimum STARS-required training.
• Cleared Portable Background Check in the statewide registry, MERIT.
• Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Pre-employment TB test and MMR vaccination (provided at no cost).

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (e.g., language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation).
• Ability to speak any language in addition to English.

Pay

Hiring range: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour, dependent on experience.
