ECE Paraprofessional at KIPP Northeast Elementary

About the Role

The Early Childhood Education Paraprofessional assists with delivery of instruction, care, discipline, and the preparation of instructional materials for three, four, and/or five year-old pre-kindergarten students as directed by the ECE classroom teacher. The role involves performing classroom duties such as preparing instructional materials, assisting with student instruction and daily living skills, care and discipline, and keeping the classroom clean and well-organized.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of your craft and engage actively in coaching sessions (meet 1-2 times every 1 or 2 weeks with a manager).
• Commit to being prepared for lessons, meetings, coaching, and professional development.

• Leverage professional tools such as Google Suite and Microsoft Suite.
• Maintain strong attendance and punctuality.
• Collaborate with colleagues and seek feedback for continuous improvement.
• Actively participate in professional development, grade-level, and department meetings.
• Serve as a positive, contributing member of a grade or functional team.
• Share candid, solutions-oriented feedback with peers and leadership.
• Assist with student and staff recruitment and engagement.
• Travel to other KIPP campuses, Home Office, or PD events as required.
• Perform classroom duties, including:
  • Working closely with the classroom teaching team to design and execute academic and social learning experiences.
  • Preparing instructional materials.
  • Assisting with student instruction (leading small groups, facilitating student play).
  • Running lunch and recess duty.
  • Assisting with care and discipline.
  • Keeping the classroom clean and well-organized.
• Assist with other duties as assigned (e.g., lunch duty, arrival/dismissal duty, bathroom duty, hallway duty).

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, Associates, or higher (required).
• Early Childhood Education Certification Requirements:
  • PDIS 3.0 ECT Credential I+ (required).
  • Ability to pass FBI, CBI, and TRAILS child abuse and neglect background check (required).
• Student teaching and/or ECE-specific paraprofessional experience (preferred).
• Experience in a school and classroom setting (preferred but not required).
• Full understanding and commitment to an Exceptional Student Experience (required).
• Flexibility within different school environments.
• Willingness to participate in de-escalating students (required).
• Experience with care-taking or mentoring (preferred).
• Ability to manage data and communication through Google and Outlook platforms.
• Outstanding organizational skills and high attention to detail; strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proactive problem solver with strong work ethic and enthusiastic approach.
• Multi-faceted, resourceful, and willing to contribute to school excellence.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop productive working relationships.
• Early Childhood Education specific credentials (preferred):
  • AA in Early Childhood Education.
  • CDA non-degree certification.
  • PDIS 3.0 ECT Credential II+.
  • 2 College Courses: ECE 101, 102, and/or 103, or other related ECE Training (Pyramid Plus, EQIT).
