About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and student-focused Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs and committed to fostering academic, social, and emotional growth in an inclusive educational environment. The EC Teacher will develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs), collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers, and provide specialized instruction to help students achieve their full potential.

Required License: Candidates must hold a current North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) license in Exceptional Children (EC) K-12 or Adaptive Curriculum K-12. Applications from candidates without one of these active licenses cannot be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with IEP goals and state standards.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Conduct progress monitoring and maintain accurate student records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate student progress with parents/guardians.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local special education regulations.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to support student growth and achievement.

Requirements

  • Current NCDPI Teaching License in Exceptional Children (EC) K-12 OR Adaptive Curriculum K-12 (mandatory).
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and best practices.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching students with disabilities in a K-12 setting.
  • Experience writing and managing IEPs.
  • Familiarity with progress monitoring tools and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
