EC Self-Contained Teacher

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher (EC Teacher) to provide high-quality instructional services to elementary students in a self-contained classroom setting. The Special Education Teacher will support students with diverse learning needs while collaborating with school staff, families, and educational support personnel to ensure academic and behavioral success. The ideal candidate is committed to student growth, individualized instruction, and active participation in developing and implementing educational programs that help students reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to students with exceptional learning needs in a self-contained classroom environment.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, support staff, and families.
• Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and behavioral supports.
• Maintain accurate documentation and student progress records.
• Participate in team meetings, program planning, and professional development activities.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Provide consultation and instructional support to educational staff as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).
• Active North Carolina Exceptional Children (EC) Teaching License (required).
• Valid state teaching certification as required by state and district regulations.
• Minimum of one year of teaching experience (preferred).
• Special Education certification (preferred).
• Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement (preferred).
• Ability to comply with all professional standards of practice.
• Current CPR certification (if required).
• TB screening, questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable).
• Current health certificate (if required by state or contract regulations).
• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• 37.5 hours per week
• Shift: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Contract Length: 9 Months
• Start Date: August 17, 2026
