About the role
The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is seeking a passionate and dedicated New York State (NYS) Certified Earth Science Teacher to join their team in the Compass Program. The Compass Program serves students who benefit from a highly structured, supportive, and therapeutic educational environment designed to meet academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned curriculum for students.
- Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
- Stay current with best practices in science education and integrate new strategies into lesson plans.
- Prepare students for the NYS Regents examination, including laboratory and fieldwork requirements.
- Develop and implement differentiated lesson plans to meet diverse learning needs.
- Collaborate with staff, teaching assistants, counselors, and related service providers.
- Implement classroom management strategies that promote positive student behavior and engagement.
Qualifications
- Must hold, or be eligible for New York State Certification in Earth Science.
- Experience working with students in alternative education settings preferred.
- Knowledge of curriculum, laboratory requirements, and assessment practices.
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with differentiated instruction and culturally responsive teaching practices preferred.
- Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Schedule
This is a full-time, 10 month position and requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a passion for teaching Science.
Pay
Starting at $56,502 - Commensurate with Experience.
