Earn While You Learn EMT-Basic Student Program

Starting on September 28, 2026, AMT’s Earn While You Learn program kicks off an 8-week accelerated course program that will provide the opportunity to earn $17.42 per hour as a full-time student in an EMT-Basic training program. You will be afforded all the benefits of a full-time employee. Upon successful completion of the program, passing the National Registry EMT exam, and obtaining your State EMT-Basic license, you will receive a full-time EMT-Basic position with AMT in Peoria and a wage increase.

About the role

Our EMTs are responsible for caring for patients in emergency response situations, during interfacility transports, and during standby events. EMTs at AMT work 12-hour shifts across the AMT family of companies.

Responsibilities

• Examine and evaluate patients to determine necessary care
• Provide patients with emergency care by utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment
• Document patient information, condition, and treatment
• Maintain patient confidentiality and perform all care with respect for patient rights
• Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
• Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment in accordance with Company Vehicle Check-off Sheets and Inventory Requirements
• Operate and drive an ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies and laws
• Assist paramedics in all advanced life support situations
• Maintain current certification(s) according to provisions set forth by the governing licensure
• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
• Present and promote a positive company image

Pay

• $17.42 per hour during the 8-week training program
• Wage increase upon successful completion of the program and obtaining EMT-Basic licensure
