Position Summary

Lee’s Marketplace is a family-owned grocery chain dedicated to providing a delightful shopping experience for guests. The Bakery Clerks play a crucial role in the Bakery Department, assisting with production, display, and customer service.

Primary Position Duties

  • Helps with the production, development, preparation, and maintenance of Bakery items in accordance with recipes and quality standards.
  • Aids in the displaying and restocking of Bakery products, ensuring shelves and cases are filled, fresh, rotated, faced, and cleaned.
  • Maintains accurate food inventories and educates customers about Lee’s wide variety of bakery options and other specialty food products.
  • Maintains training and certification by attending in-person trainings and utilizing digital training platforms.
  • Processes and completes orders through digital and in-person order processing, and assists with other responsibilities as needed.
  • Greet and assist guests in a friendly and courteous manner, providing knowledgeable answers to inquiries and promoting a high level of morale.
  • Prepares and processes guest orders promptly and finalizes purchases in a friendly manner, demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Assists in the cleanliness and safety of the work area, adhering to food safety regulations, and reporting any safety hazards or equipment issues to management.
  • Operates cash registers and handles transactions accurately, following store policies on returns, exchanges, and refunds.
  • Collaborates with team members to achieve store goals, participate in meetings and training sessions, and assist other departments as needed.
  • Works in a fast-paced, sometimes crowded environment with tact and patience, ensuring products are sold well before their expiration date.
  • Attends departmental, store, and company meetings as required, contributing to profits and revenues and meeting productivity standards.
  • Refers to the Team Member Handbook to ensure policies and procedures are followed, promotes a harassment-free environment, and reports any potential harmful situations to management.

Position Requirements

  • Age Requirement: 18 years+
  • Food Handler's Permit required (can be obtained after hired)
  • Availability: Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Willingness to work varied hours according to store needs.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, twist, sit, and bend for extended periods; ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds; manual dexterity for handling small objects and operating equipment; repetitive use of hands and arms for pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting, reaching, gripping, and balancing; occasional stooping, crouching, kneeling, or crawling; prolonged periods standing and walking; must be able to access and navigate all areas of the store; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times; lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting repeatedly; occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders are required.
  • Education or Skills: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred); previous experience in retail or guest service (preferred); previous specialty cheese experience (preferred).
  • Drive Skills and Abilities: Ability to write, speak, hear, and understand the spoken word to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members, and guests; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; basic math skills for handling cash transactions; good verbal communication skills; ability to operate cooking machinery.
