Primary Responsibilities

  • Recruit and retain an adequate number of student and adult volunteer tutors that will deliver the DYAD reading interventions
  • Provide training and orientation workshops to tutors before the start of the school year.
  • Provide intervention assistance to tutors during the tutoring sessions.
  • Afford support to tutors during their scheduled shifts and fulfill volunteer requirements.
  • Afford teaching the tutors the DYAD method of reading intervention (which focuses on how to build fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and reading engagement).
  • Encourage positive reading habits and create a supportive learning environment for students.
  • Track student participation, progress, and attendance as required by the program.
  • Communicate professionally with teachers, site coordinators, and program staff.
  • Participate in required trainings, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Interest in education, literacy, youth development, or community impact work
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work patiently and positively with elementary-age students
  • Dependable, organized, and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Must successfully complete any required background checks and training
  • Must have access to reliable transportation throughout Weber County
  • Previous experience in literacy or reading intervention is a bonus
