About the role

Kidango (kidango.org) is an early learning nonprofit dedicated to supporting children's development and ensuring they have the necessary skills to succeed in kindergarten and throughout life. We focus on providing safe, nurturing environments and resources for children, particularly those from low-income families, and advocate for better policies in early childhood education.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning, preparing, and implementing the daily program.
  • Plans and prepares the learning environment and prepares needed materials and supplies.
  • Maintains the environment in a clean, safe manner.
  • Communicates regularly with parents as directed by a supervisor.
  • Works under the guidance of an Associate Teacher, Teacher, Master Teacher, or Center Director.
  • Ensures the health, safety, and well-being of all children in the agency.
  • Serves as a resource for volunteers as needed.
  • Attends meetings and participates in professional development activities.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding children, families, and employees.
  • Collaborates with the agency team to promote its mission and philosophy.
  • Greets children, parents, staff, and guests as needed.
  • Supports other centers as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Master Teacher or Center Director.

Requirements

  • Possess an unexpired Associate Teacher Permit from the Department of Education.
  • Have prior experience working with young children.
  • Have immunization records compliant with Senate Bill 792.
  • Have a reliable mode of transportation.
  • Be willing to travel to different locations.
  • Be flexible with on-call assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in early childhood education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Compensation

$33.63—$33.63 USD per hour.

Additional Requirements

  • Pass a health screening and TB test.
  • Pass a background fingerprint clearance.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
