Early Learning Site Specialist (PCEC Location)

About the Role

The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo partners with Portage Public Schools to offer before and after wraparound care for their early learning programs at the Portage Community Education Center. The Early Learning Site Specialist will work with front-line staff and the Early Learning team to create a high-quality program, providing overall program guidance and direct supervision to children while modeling core values of integrity, collaboration, diversity, and health.

Responsibilities

• Availability during all hours of programming: Monday-Friday, 6:30am-9:00am and 3:15pm-6:00pm, including full-day care on no-school days and during summer break.
• Provide daily direction and oversight of the assigned program site to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Develop and facilitate educational and engaging activities for children ages 3-5.
• Demonstrate knowledge of childcare licensing requirements.
• Lead team meetings and assist with hiring and training new staff.
• Ensure program records are complete, accurate, and kept confidential.
• Develop relationships with staff, students, and families to maintain open communication throughout the school year.
• Commit to expanding skills and knowledge through required and recommended trainings.
• Follow CACFP requirements and assist with food preparation for all Early Learning locations, as needed.
• Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications to handle emergency situations appropriately.
• Report any suspected incidence of child abuse to the Association OST Director and Children’s Protective Services, as required by Michigan law.

Requirements

• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Education and experience equivalent to the MiLeap Site Administrator requirements.
• Must pass a comprehensive background check.
• Current First Aid and CPR certifications.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Must be able to participate in activities with children.
• Daily cleaning to maintain a safe and healthy space.

Pay

$17 - $19/hour depending on education and experience.
