About the Role

We are hiring for a teacher role at our North Children's Center in Chicago. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact beyond just a company’s bottom line.

Pay

The average starting salary for this position ranges from $42,000 to $45,000 annually, depending on skill and experience level. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is available, distributed as $750 in the first paycheck, $1,250 after 6 months, and $1,000 after 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a team approach to planning and implementing program activities.
• Collaborate with Family Support Workers, Lead Teacher, Program Aide, site partners, and site supervisor for the betterment of the classroom and families.
• Assume responsibility for the classroom in the lead teacher’s absence.
• Participate in childcare and classroom-related activities during parent meetings/workshops.
• Participate in ongoing CLASS implementation and monitoring.
• Implement the program’s Planned Language Approach to support dual language learners.
• Guide and facilitate children’s activities, ensuring appropriate child guidance, discipline, and proper ratios at all times.
• Attend all mandated trainings, set and achieve professional development goals, and share resources with staff. Track all professional development in Gateways.
• Maintain high-quality documentation of school readiness skills and ensure Interrater Reliability through Teaching Strategies Gold.
• Participate in planning and implementing education home visits and parent-teacher conferences as needed.
• Ensure accurate teacher and child files as required by licensing agents, Early Childhood requirements, and Metropolitan Family Services.
• Follow transportation safety procedures, including the use of the bus attendance log if applicable.
• Accurately complete CACFP documents in conjunction with teaching staff.
• Develop and maintain effective supportive relationships with parents, children, and staff.
• Contribute to weekly lesson planning using Creative Curriculum, including individualization for all children, and monitor accommodations listed in IEPs and IFSPs.
• Provide a supportive, caring, and safe environment for children.
• Use the playground as an extension of the classroom and ensure playground safety.
• Provide active supervision to ensure children’s safety in the classroom, during transitions, at transportation times, and on the playground. Ensure no child is left alone or unsupervised.
• Ensure agency technology equipment and time are used for agency business.
• Comply with the agency’s code of conduct and adhere to purchase approval requirements to maintain fiscal integrity.
• Assist in the development of the agency’s annual program self-assessment.
• Ensure all content area data is accurately reflected in the agency’s Program Information Report within set time frames.
• Participate in program recruitment efforts to maintain full enrollment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in early childhood education or child development from an accredited college or university required.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a field outside of ECE with a minimum of 60 college credit hours, of which 15 must be in early childhood education or child development, and/or a Gateways Level 4 credential preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
• Ability to obtain the appropriate Gateways to Opportunity Level 4 Credential.
• Satisfactorily pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.
• Driving for work required with a personally owned vehicle; travel between sites required.

Physical Demands

• Sitting and standing for sustained periods of time.
• Frequently talking, hearing, and using hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects or controls.
• Occasionally standing, bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Close visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
