Early Intervention Social Worker MSW

Location: Middlesex/Mercer Counties, NJ
Shift: Day
Pay Range: $69.32 - $69.32 per hour

Job Overview

Along with other core team members, the Early Intervention Social Worker evaluates and develops an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for each child and provides direct services to children with delays in physical, cognitive, communication, social, emotional, and adaptive development. The Social Worker collaborates with other team members to instruct parents, plan and evaluate the program, problem-solve, discuss each child's progress, and prepare a transition plan when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Social Work
• Minimum of one year’s experience in a child-focused setting, and field experience in health care or special education
• Sound background in normal child development
• Knowledge of the educational and therapeutic value of early intervention for children with disabilities
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Good planning and organizational skills
• Travel throughout Middlesex and Mercer Counties

Licenses & Certifications

• NJ Social Work License
• NJ Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Completes development evaluations that accurately and efficiently identify strengths and needs
• Communicates effectively with families and other team members in oral and written formats, in formal and informal situations
• Supports and enhances the family’s ability to interact with their child in daily routines
• Displays competency in writing strategies that are appropriate, including measurable outcomes, as part of the IFSP
• Incorporates recommendations of other team and family members
• Evaluates progress on an ongoing basis
• Submits all required billing, verification logs, progress notes, and productivity reports
• Ensures all paperwork is legible, accurate, adheres to codes of professional ethics, and is submitted in a timely manner
• Selects and adapts appropriate activities, incorporating a variety of intervention models
• Evaluates effectiveness of methods while meeting family outcomes
• Takes responsibility for seeking supervision or consultation regarding clinical performance
• Actively contributes to improvement plans by effectively utilizing feedback
• Assists in the training of others in the Early Intervention (EI) philosophy and intervention models
• Communicates job-specific concerns and participates in developing solutions
• Attends and participates in weekly in-service staff meetings
• Completes written work in a timely manner relevant to evaluation, IFSP development, intervention, and transition summaries when appropriate

Working Environment

• Natural environment settings including but not limited to the home and daycare settings
• Majority of duties require walking, sitting, standing, bending, stretching, reaching, visual acuity, and ability to safely lift up to 15 pounds
