The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview Along with other core team members, the Early Intervention Social Worker evaluates develops an Individual Family Service Plan for each child and provides direct services to children with delays in the areas of physical, cognitive, communication, social, emotional, and adaptive development. The Social Worker acts long with other team members to instruct parents, meets with other team members to plan and evaluate the program, to problem solve, to discuss progress of each child and prepare a transition plan when appropriate. Qualifications Required: Master Degree in Social WorkMinimum of one years experience in child focused setting, and field experience in health care of special education settingSound background in normal child developmentKnowledge of the educational and therapeutic value of an early intervention for handicapped childrenExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalExcellent interpersonal skillsGood planning and organizational skillsTravel throughout Middlesex and Mercer Counties Licenses & Certifications NJ Social Work LicenseNJ Drivers License Scheduling Requirements Per DiemDay Shift Essential Functions Completes development evaluations that accurately and efficiently identify strengths and needsCommunicates effectively with families and other team members in oral and written formats, in formal and informal situationsSupports and enhances the familys ability to interact with their child in daily routinesDisplays competency in writing providing strategies that are appropriate, including measurable outcomes, as part of the IFSPIncorporates recommendations of other team and family membersEvaluates progress on an ongoing basisSubmits all required billing and verification logs, progress notes and productivity reportsAll paperwork is legible, accurate and adheres to codes of professional ethics and is submitted in a timely mannerSelects and adapts appropriate activities, incorporating a variety of intervention modelEvaluates effectiveness of methods while meeting family outcomesTakes responsibility for seeking supervision or consultation in relation to clinical performanceActively contributes to improvement plans by effectively utilizing feedbackAssists in the training of others in the EI philosophy, as well as a variety of intervention modelsCommunicates job specific concerns and participates in developing solutionsAttends and participates in weekly in service staff meetingCompletes written work in a timely manner relevant to evaluation, IFSP development, intervention and transition summaries when appropriate Working Environment Natural environment settings including but not limited to the home and day care settingsMajority of duties requires walking, sitting, standing, bending, stretching, reaching, visual acuity and ability to safely lift up to 15 pounds Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
