Responsibilities
- Provide early intervention services including developmental therapy, screening, special instruction, coordination, linkage, advocacy, and support to children who are developmentally delayed, at risk, or diagnosed with a developmental disability.
- Design learning activities and environments that promote cognitive, social, and motor development.
- Support families with tools and resources to continue learning at home.
- Facilitate referrals to additional services and community resources.
- Participate in community education and transition planning for families.
- Maintain professional documentation and uphold Early Intervention standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, Early Intervention, Elementary Education, or Certain Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Vision special education programs for DT-Hearing or DT-Vision credentials.
- Required coursework per DHS standards.
- Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and social services.
- Previous experience with children who have special needs preferred.
- Pursue and maintain Developmental Therapy credential through Early Intervention System.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license & insurance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, Early Intervention, Elementary Education, or Certain Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Vision special education programs for DT-Hearing or DT-Vision credentials.
- Required coursework per DHS standards.
- Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and social services.
- Previous experience with children who have special needs preferred.
- Pursue and maintain Developmental Therapy credential through Early Intervention System.
