Job Summary

Head Start is a federally-funded program providing comprehensive services for pregnant women, children from birth to age five, and their families. Services include early education, health, nutrition, mental health, and support for children with special needs. The role focuses on infants and toddlers, promoting their learning outcomes and family engagement.

About the Role

You will work in an outcomes-oriented, team environment, assisting the classroom team in creating a developmentally appropriate environment and experiences for infants and toddlers. This position aims to improve children's trajectories, including learning outcomes, living standards, and future academic and professional success.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an outcomes-oriented, team environment
  • Aid the classroom team in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate environment and experiences for infants and toddlers
  • Assist in promoting children's learning outcomes and family engagement

Requirements

  • Achieve or exceed requirements for an Infant Toddler CDA Credential through relevant education and experience
  • Show knowledge and experience in developmentally appropriate early childhood practice, child outcome assessment, child behavior management, and curriculum planning, development, and implementation
  • Commit to social justice and working with families with limited financial resources; demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills (bilingual abilities preferred), documentation, and record-keeping skills
  • Hold a valid driver’s license, have a clean driving record, and have access to reliable transportation
  • Have the physical ability to carry out required tasks

Qualifications

  • A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related education field

Skills

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
  • Experience with child outcome assessment
  • Experience with child behavior management
  • Experience with curriculum planning, development, and implementation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (bilingual abilities preferred)
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills
  • Physical ability to perform required tasks

Pay and Schedule

  • 40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year
  • Rate of pay depends on qualifications
  • Range of pay for first 60 working day probationary period is $22.96-$23.73/hour; after 60 working days, wage increases to $23.29-$24.07/hour
