About the role

The Early Head Start Teacher position is aimed at individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of young children. You will be responsible for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate, individualized experiences in a safe and nurturing environment. Your role also involves planning and participating in parent education, parent involvement, and family support activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, care for, and ensure the safety and well-being of 0 to 3 year-old children
  • Support and promote each child’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and language development
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, site team members, community agencies, and partners
  • Implement a multicultural and age-appropriate curriculum that meets the needs and interests of students and complies with local and federal standards
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records evaluating child growth and development, including health records, observation notes, lesson plans, attendance, meal counts, parent involvement, family support, and other items as directed
  • Develop and implement Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) for children with disabilities and plan classroom experiences to support the IFSP plan
  • Carry out emergency and safety procedures, administer first aid and/or CPR as needed

Requirements

  • One year of experience teaching in a licensed childcare or public pre-kindergarten setting
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Currently possess an Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential OR currently enrolled in a program leading to an Associate's degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, or an equivalent college degree with 18 credits in early childhood education, child development, or infant/toddler development to be completed within six months of hire

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $42,500 - $65,000 annually. Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Schedule

The position follows a full-year schedule that is typically comprised of 2,088 hours annually, with Birth to Five site classrooms operating Monday through Friday. Position may have possible exposure to bodily fluids and infectious diseases.
