About the role
Provide infants and toddlers with a nurturing, safe, and healthy environment to help them develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally in a manner appropriate to their age and stage of development, with the overall goal of social competency. Assume a lead role in the classroom while performing teaching activities in accordance with the Early Head Start Performance Standards. Involve parents in the educational aspects of the program to increase their knowledge and understanding of child growth, education, and development, specifically with infants and toddlers.
Responsibilities
- Deliver age- and stage-appropriate learning experiences that foster social, intellectual, physical, and emotional growth
- Serve as lead teacher in the classroom under Early Head Start Performance Standards
- Engage parents in the educational program to build their skills in child development
- Assist with meals and other assigned activities
Requirements
- MA EEC Infant Toddler Certification
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in early childhood or related field, or CDA (minimum requirement)
- Experience working with children birth–3 years
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Valid MA state driver’s license
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Successful completion of CORI, DCF, SORI, and fingerprint background checks prior to employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in Portuguese, Arabic, or Spanish
