About the Role
Alpha is seeking Early Elementary Teachers (Guides) to join our team at various campuses nationwide. As a Guide, you will work closely with K-3 students, ensuring they meet their daily learning targets and overcome reading deficits. You'll deliver brief, structured literacy interventions, support students through app-based core instruction, and facilitate life-skills activities. This role requires a unique blend of diagnostic skills, motivation techniques, and the ability to work within a non-traditional school model.
Responsibilities
- Delivering brief structured-literacy interventions with 2-4 students, identifying phonics or decoding deficits, and confirming skill transfer
- Supporting students through app-based core instruction, identifying stalls, and facilitating problem-solving
- Facilitating morning opening routines, life-skills instruction, and progress-tracking activities
- Motivating students toward weekly application goals using gamification and school currency systems
- Remaining with students throughout lunch, recess, and dismissal, providing individualized support
Requirements
- Willing to work on-site at one of the campuses: AZ - Phoenix; OK - Oklahoma City and Tulsa; TX - Dallas, Fort Worth (Keller), Plano, and The Woodlands; UT - Park City (Salt Lake City)
- At least 3 years of direct experience with children ages 4-9 in teaching, coaching, tutoring, or similar settings
- At least 2 years of experience teaching reading in grades K-3 within the last 5 years
- Completed structured-literacy training (LETRS, IMSE, Orton-Gillingham, etc.) or a master's in reading/literacy
- Bachelor's degree in any subject (teaching certificate not required)
- Comfortable guiding students through app-based learning and workshops
- Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship
Qualifications
- Experience maintaining engagement with young children
- Familiarity with reading platforms (Amira, Lexia, i-Ready) or diagnostic assessments (DRA, DIBELS, AIMSweb)
- Ability to describe specific reading intervention successes and methodologies
- Experience in non-traditional school models (charter, Montessori, hybrid)
