Responsibilities
- Deliver ABA (applied behavior analysis) intervention directly to children through the age of kindergarten using a variety of methodologies.
- Work under the guidance and supervision of a board certified and licensed behavior analysts.
- Assist in becoming a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), as this is required by insurance companies, our payor.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children with autism as young as 2 years old is desired.
- Bachelor's degree and prior experience working one-on-one with young children on the spectrum is required.
- Experience with the following job duties is preferred:
- Carrying out behavior intervention programs in a one-on-one situation
- Taking data on progress made within a set of goals
- Providing positive behavior supports to reduce unwanted behaviors
- Utilizing relationship-based techniques to increase and maintain active engagement
- Utilizing applied behavior analytical strategies (ABA) to teach skill
Essential Physical Requirements of a Registered Behavior Technician
- Ability to lift and carry 45 pounds
- Climbing on playground equipment
- Engage in physical play with children which may include: running/swinging/spinning/crawling/squatting with children
- Maintain elevated heart rate during therapy sessions with children
- Must be able to run faster than a 5 year old
- Picking up and transporting children safely up to 100 yards in distance
- Walking up and down stairs multiple times a day
- Pushing and pulling children up to 45 pounds on wagons, wheel chairs, baskets, etc.
- Repeated bending over assisting or playing with children
- Fine motor dexterity
- Singing, dancing, clapping is expected
- Sitting on the floor without back support for extended periods
