Early Childhood Teacher (D/HH) - Early Learning
About the role
The Early Learning Center is seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher to work with young Deaf/HH students at a preschool level. The ideal candidate must have a valid Ohio teaching license for the relevant grade level and subject area, or be part of The Ohio School for the Deaf's Grow Your Own program. Applicants may need to pursue licensure within a year of hiring. The successful candidate must demonstrate an Advanced level on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) within one year of employment, with an Intermediate level required at the time of hiring. Experience in early learning or special education, particularly with multiple disabilities, is preferred. Van certification may also be required.
Responsibilities
- Teach subject matter at a preschool level to young Deaf/HH students
- Support the development of social, emotional, and developmentally appropriate skills
- Maintain a valid Ohio teaching license or participate in The Ohio School for the Deaf's Grow Your Own program
- Demonstrate an Advanced level on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) within one year of employment, with an Intermediate level required at the time of hiring
- Possess early learning or special education experience, especially with multiple disabilities
- May require van certification
