Early Childhood Teacher
About the role
The Student Parent Support Center provides information, support, and family resources for University students, faculty, staff, and patients. Our childcare programs are NAEYC accredited and serve children birth to six years. We offer part-time and full-time programming in three campus childcare programs for students, faculty, and staff and drop-in childcare for patients visiting the three U Health Centers.
Responsibilities
Curriculum, Classroom Management Expectations and Guidance: Aligns with NAEYC Standards, promotes leadership skills, models appropriate behavior, implements lesson plans, uses positive guidance techniques, supports staff, assists with daily routines, and distributes medication.
Professionalism: Establishes and maintains friendly, professional, and effective working relationships, works with parents and guardians, follows directives, demonstrates independence, and maintains attendance and punctuality.
Problem Solving: Develops lesson plans, assesses problem behaviors, discusses emotional functioning with parents/guardians, operates the center in absence of supervisor, oversees teacher aides, reports suspected child abuse/neglect, and handles challenging situations like non-English speaking children and hyperactive disorders.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of related experience, current CPR and First Aid certification, current Food Handler's Permit, ability to lift and carry small children, fine and gross motor skills, sufficient vision and hearing, ability to communicate effectively, and pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, CDA certificate, experience in a NAEYC Accredited program.

Pay
$15.50 - $18.00/hour
Schedule
Monday through Friday between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm. Schedules may vary. Up to 19 hours per week depending on hiring needs and incumbent schedule.
