Early Childhood Specialist

Loudoun County Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS) is dedicated to connecting all communities through exceptional people, parks, and programs. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Early Childhood Specialist to join our team full-time, where you will have a significant impact on the lives of children, educators, and families.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the implementation of creative preschool programs that respond to the diverse learning approaches and developmental levels of children.
• Collaborate with educators to guide and support them in establishing and implementing program goals and academic curricula, ensuring alignment with best practices in early childhood education.
• Organize demonstration lessons, assess teaching methods, and offer mentorship and coaching to educators, showcasing effective strategies and techniques for early childhood instruction.
• Conduct classroom observations and assessments offering constructive feedback and strategies to enhance classroom interactions and teaching techniques and ensure optimal outcomes for children.
• Support centers in developing and applying family engagement practices that empower families, in alignment with the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (PFCE) Frameworks.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the assigned program or department and two (2) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current CLASS certification for preschool, and/or infant/toddler.
• Experience developing and facilitating professional development trainings.

Requirements

• Must undergo criminal, fingerprinting, Child Protective Service (CPS), and DMV background checks.
• TB screening questions must be passed prior to hire and every two years thereafter.
• A sworn disclosure statement or affirmation must be completed, detailing any criminal convictions or pending criminal charges, at the time of employment and every five years following that initial submission.
• First Aid (Infant through Adult)/CPR certifications prior to hire or within 30 days of hire.
• Certification in CLASS is expected within 12 months of hire.
