About the role

The lessons children learn may fade, but the adult who believed in them never does. That's what this role is about. At Alpha, academics are completed in just two hours daily through adaptive learning technology. This structure allows Guides to concentrate on the work that transforms lives: fostering confidence, resilience, communication skills, and the drive to embrace difficult challenges. You won't stand at the front delivering lessons. Instead, you'll coach students through obstacles, acknowledge their victories, and demonstrate what high expectations look like when combined with authentic belief.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate dynamic life-skills workshops that enable K-3 students to develop communication, focus, feedback, and other enduring skills through active engagement rather than traditional lectures.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group coaching, utilizing Coachbot analytics, established motivation systems, and robust relationships to ensure every child remains on track for challenging weekly learning objectives.
  • Evaluate life-skill proficiency through Alpha's Test2Pass framework, coaching students until they exhibit genuine understanding—not merely participation.
  • Adjust your coaching approach to match the developmental requirements of your cohort, whether that involves songs, movement, and storytelling for younger learners or increased independence and accountability for older students.
  • Cultivate the types of relationships where students feel sufficiently supported to push beyond what they believed they could accomplish.

Requirements

  • Current openings for this salary tier are available in Scottsdale, AZ; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, Georgetown, Dallas, Plano, Fort Worth, and Houston, TX; and Park City (Salt Lake City area), UT.
  • Bachelor's degree in any subject.
  • At least 3 years of experience working directly with children ages 4-9 through teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, or similar environments.
  • A demonstrated history of inspiring young children to reach challenging goals, with concrete examples of your impact.
  • Comfort working with AI-powered learning while dedicating your own efforts to coaching, motivation, and life-skill development.
  • The capacity to combine warmth with consistent expectations.

Qualifications

  • Willing to work on-site at one of Alpha's campuses.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Skills

  • Experience in youth sports, children's theater, camp leadership, Montessori, progressive education, or high-engagement after-school programs.
  • Personal experience reaching ambitious goals in academics, athletics, or your career.
  • Exceptional storytelling or performance abilities that naturally engage the attention of young children.
  • Evidence of transforming reluctant or shy children into confident, active participants.

Benefits

  • Immediate availability.
  • Long-term position.
  • Compensation level of $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year.
  • Paid weekly.
