Early Childhood Special Education Teaching Assistant - 2026-2027

About the role

The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher Assistant serves as an instructional assistant to assigned classrooms or service locations under the direction of the program administration and the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. The teaching assistant supports the daily instructional, behavioral, social/emotional, and adaptive/functional needs of preschool aged students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with students to facilitate instructional programming in a variety of settings.
• Support the behavioral, social/emotional, and adaptive/functional needs of students under the direction of the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher.
• Collaborate with Early Childhood Special Education and school staff to meet the needs of qualifying students with disabilities and program specific goals.
• Participate in a variety of activities to support program operations including, but not limited to, meetings, professional development, and family engagement activities.
• Absorb and comply with State statutes, School Board policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its recognized equivalent.
• Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 credit hours).
• Obtained an associate's (or higher) degree.
• Passed the Parapro Assessment through ETS.

Benefits

Salary Range for 2026-2027 is $19.57 to $30.14 per hour plus full benefits package. Workday Full time/10 month (183 days) position, 7 hours per day.
