Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year

Responsibilities

• Plans curriculum, lessons and teaching methods.
• Reports to appropriate special education supervisory staff and principals.
• Provides support and special education services to students in the ECSE program.
• Performs necessary assessment and evaluation procedures for special education students.
• Provides an individualized educational program for students based upon needs identified by evaluation.
• Follows necessary due process procedures and case management responsibilities.
• Facilitates inclusive opportunities when appropriate.
• Be an advocate for students and assist in carrying out department and school district goals.
• Collaborates with Early Learning and district colleagues, other specialists and outside agencies.
• Supervises and directs the work of non-licensed support staff in the classroom.
• Communicates with IEP team members and families/caregivers.
• Engage in professional development opportunities.

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, Current Minnesota Early Childhood Special Education license.
• Physical Job Requirements: Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds for students who are wheelchair-bound and students with other special needs.
