Responsibilities
- Plans curriculum, lessons and teaching methods.
- Reports to appropriate special education supervisory staff and principals.
- Provides support and special education services to students in the ECSE program.
- Performs necessary assessment and evaluation procedures for special education students.
- Provides an individualized educational program for students based upon needs identified by evaluation.
- Follows necessary due process procedures and case management responsibilities.
- Facilitates inclusive opportunities when appropriate.
- Be an advocate for students and assist in carrying out department and school district goals.
- Collaborates with Early Learning and district colleagues, other specialists and outside agencies.
- Supervises and directs the work of non-licensed support staff in the classroom.
- Communicates with IEP team members and families/caregivers.
- Engage in professional development opportunities.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, Current Minnesota Early Childhood Special Education license.
- Physical Job Requirements: Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds for students who are wheelchair-bound and students with other special needs.
