EARLY CHILDHOOD PRESCHOOL 1:1 AIDE

About the role

As an Early Childhood Aide (1:1 Aide / Teacher Assistant), you will work closely alongside Special Education Teachers as part of the interdisciplinary team, providing support to children with developmental disabilities on a variety of age-appropriate educational goals. Our classrooms are enriched with “State of the Art” materials and outdoor learning areas. The school program follows a 12-month calendar with 9 weeks of vacation. You will work in a self-contained setting utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain classroom materials and supplies
• Assist with bussing at arrival and dismissal
• Implement a child’s IEP and track progress toward goals
• Use teaching strategies based on Applied Behavior Analysis principles
• Collect data and document student progress as directed by the classroom teacher
• Follow the lead of the classroom teacher
• Implement outlined behavior treatment plans
• Supervise children during classroom activities
• Demonstrate knowledge of outlined curriculum and IEP goals
• Assist children in all daily living activities
• Work collaboratively with classroom staff and team members
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• Must be able to modify the area to secure safety of children
• Ability to move/transport a child weighing up to 30 pounds to a height of 3 feet to place child on changing table
• Must be able to move quickly after a child up to 200 feet to prevent elopement
• Must be able to position self or maneuver classroom to facilitate student instruction in classroom and playground environment
• Must have ability to follow oral and written directions and detect/respond to fire alarms
• Must be able to ascend and descend stairs with railing

Pay

$21.00 per hour

Schedule

Part-time, hourly shifts available Monday–Friday between 8:00 am–3:30 pm (12-month calendar with 9 weeks of vacation).
